Seven suspected armed robbers who allegedly attacked and robbed two families at Suhum the same night, were on have been remanded by a Magistrate's Court at Suhum.
The accused pleaded not guilty to three counts of conspiracy to rob, robbery and causing harm, and will re-appear on April 11.
They were Appiah Twum, 20, unemployed, Samuel Danquah, 19, unemployed, Yaw Agbeko, alias Agba, mason, 28, and a 16 year of shoemaker.
The rest were Mensah Zati, alias Rasta, 30, Momolotey Sappo, alias Mortey, 35 and Eric Adja, alias Brother, 25, all farmers.
Prosecuting, Detective Police Inspector Edward M. Dzokoto, told the court presided over by Lt-Col. Alex Kofi Ayeh that on February 16, this year, the accused, who were armed with guns and other weapons attacked the home of Mr. Daniel Daah and broke the door with cement blocks. He said Mr. Daah's wife, Comfort, who heard the noise and raised the alarm was shot in the breast before they fled.
According to Inspector Dzokoto, the gang continued to the house of Mr. Kofi Tawiah at Ayekotse, a Suburb of Suhum and similarly broke their door with cement blocks and forced the couple to lie on the floor while they ransacked the house.
He said the robbers took away 390,000 cedis cash and personal effects worth ten million cedis after tying the couple with a twine before they fled in a waiting vehicle.
However, some neighbours who identified Agbeko, Zati, Sappo and Adja helped the police to arrest them while Atua, Twum and Danquah were arrested at a police identification parade at Koforidua on February 19.
