Abor (V/R), Mar. 11, GNA- Seven people died on the spot when two 23-seater Benz buses were involved in a head-on collision at Afife on the Aflao-Accra highway on Tuesday night.
Thirty-nine others who were injured on both vehicles some in critical condition were rushed to Sacred Heart Hospital at Abor. The dead included three women believed to be either Nigerians and Beninois and four men including the driver of the Aflao-Accra bound bus, identified only as Sokpe.
None of the passengers on the bus bound for Aflao from Accra has been reported dead.
Two of the passengers who were seriously wounded, included George Rockson Ekpe, the driver of the Accra-Aflao bound bus and Ibrahim Afolabi, a Nigerian have been referred to Volta Regional Hospital in Ho. Sources close to the Abor Police told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the bus from Aflao to Accra veered off its lane and crashed into the other bus which had slowed down to avoid the accident.
