Takoradi, Oct.18, GNA- The Shama Ahanta East Metropolitan Secretariat of the Ghana National Association of Teacher (GNAT) has disassociated itself from the strike action embarked upon by some teachers in the metropolis.

It has therefore asked teachers in Kojokrom and Ketan who are reported to be on strike to go back to work.

Mr. Isaac Bimpeh, Metro GNAT Secretary, said there was no justification for the teachers to join the strike since a proposal on salaries and other emoluments of teachers had been presented to the government for consideration.

He said Metro GNAT executives would meet all head teachers of schools in Kojokrom and Ketan on Monday to impress upon them the need to wait for the outcome of the ongoing negotiations before taking any action.

Some GNAT members in the Western Region have joined the strike by members of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) to back their demand for higher salaries.
