Shepherdess International donates to CILIA Home

Shepherdess International, a group within the Mid-West Ghana Conference (MGC) of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, has presented food items worth GH¢2,000 to the Compassion Is Love In Action (CILIA) Home at Yawhima in the Sunyani Municipality.

The items were four bags of rice, cartons of milk, soaps, cooking oil, toilet rolls, 20 plastic chairs and tables, drinks and biscuits.

Mrs Grace Oduro-Sarpong, Coordinator of Shepherdess International, made up of wives of SDA pastors, said the presentation formed part of activities to mark the 125th anniversary celebration of the SDA Church.

She said the items were made available through contributions by individual members in fulfillment of biblical teachings to support orphans and the marginalised in society.

Mrs Oduro-Sarpong stressed the importance to support inmates of the home to enable them to grow to become national assets.

She said the total upbringing and development of the children ought to be a collective responsibility and that was why the group decided to assist the home.

She appealed to management of the home to be caring to the children.

Madam Juliana Osei, Caretaker, said the home had 40 inmates made up of 30 boys and 10 girls and thanked the donors for the gesture.

She appealed to other religious bodies and philanthropists to assist in the upkeep and the general wellbeing of the children.

Madam Osei said the orphanage urgently needed a generator, school bus and dining tables and appealed to the general public for support.
