Nkrankwanta (B/A), Jan. 30, GNA - Squadron Leader Benjamin Anane-Asamoah (Rtd), Dormaa District Chief Executive, has asked communities in Nkrankwanta and environs in Dormaa district to appreciate the numerous development projects provided by the government for the area and vote massively to retain the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in subsequent elections.
The DCE noted that even though the NPP recorded abysmally low votes in the area during the last general election, it was determined to develop the area to counteract the wrong impression among sections of the people that the Party was out to satisfy only its sympathizers. Squadron Leader Anane-Asamoah was speaking at the Nkrankwanta chief's palace during which a contract for the construction of a block of three classrooms for the town's Islamic Primary School, estimated at 338 million cedis was signed.
The contract was jointly signed by the DCE, Nana Kwabena Asemia, chief of Nkrankwanta and the contractor, PETMAT Contracts, based at Dormaa-Ahenkro.
Squadron Leader Anane-Asamoah said it was the government's policy to sign such contracts in the presence of stakeholders to enhance transparency and offer the public the opportunity to know and interact with workers on projects.
He appealed to beneficiary communities to provide communal labour to enable the contractor to complete the project on schedule. The Dormaa district engineer, Frederick Okyere Sackey, explained that the classroom block which was being sponsored by the government and the World Bank, was part of measures to meet the increased school enrolment as a result of the capitation grant and the school feeding programmes.
He commended the communal spirit of the people during the execution of some earlier projects that included the Area Council offices. Nana Asemia commended the government for providing the town with development projects.
He warned that communal labour defaulters would be made to face the full rigours of the law.
