Tamale, Nov. 26, GNA - The city of Louisville in the United States has given a grant of 115,000 dollars to the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) to support the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) to improve upon water supply and sanitation.

The grant came as a result of a visit by the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), Alhaji Abudulai Harrun Friday, and some members of the assembly to Louisville. Tamale has a sister-city relationship with Louisville to understudy the town hall system of the US city.

Alhaji Friday said this at the second ordinary meeting of the fourth session of the assembly in Tamale. He said Louisville had donated medical equipment valued at over 40,000 dollars to the TTH.

The equipment included lower gastro intestinal tract endoscope, upper gastro intestinal endoscope and 24 stethoscopes and it was donated by a team it sent to Ghana.

The eight-member team was led by Dr. Steven Diamond, who said they wanted to assist in providing quality health care delivery to the people of Ghana. Dr. Ken Sagoe, Chief Executive Officer of the Tamale Teaching Hospital, said the equipment were of high quality and the first of its kind to be provided to any hospital in Ghana.
