Kumasi, June 27, GNA - The Most Reverend Dr Robert Aboagye-Mensah, Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, has told the clergy to recognise that without genuine sense of calling from God they could never become successful in their ministry.

"If you have chosen to become a priest on the promptings of people or other considerations, I am afraid you would fail".

The Most Rev Dr Aboagye-Mensah was commissioning 60 newly ordained ministers into the Church's ministry at a special service held at the Calvary Methodist Church in Kumasi on Sunday.

He told them that they were entering into the work of God at a time there were a lot of things happening with the "Word" being used for deception and exploitation.

The Presiding Bishop reminded them to use the word of God to set the present generation free from suppression, injustices, fear and all forms of difficulties.

He said, "you have been called by God to specifically serve your generation but not that of the future or the past"

To be able to successfully perform this task, he said, they should be conscious of the fact that they were not on their own but belonged to the "Living God who has commissioned you into his work".

The Most Rev Dr Aboagye-Mensah also drew attention to the need for them to appreciate that on their own they could not perform any wonders and must therefore pray to God to clearly understand the job assigned to them.

He advised them to rely on His guidance in their difficult moments for strength. 27 June 04
