The infamous rebranding Metro Mass Transit Buses (MMT) have already begun catching on in the Kumasi metropolis in the Ashanti Region.
The rebranding of the buses raised public outcry over the inflated amount involved.
But beyond the GHC3.6 million charged the state by Smartty’s Management and Production Limited, a company belonging to actress Selassie Ibrahim, the public appears to be patronising the services of the bus.
Some of the low line buses are plying the Adum–Ejisu road and the Santasi–Abrepo route.
In an interview with Ultimate news some commuters in the metropolis explained that the re-introduction of the MMT buses will be of immense help to passengers in the region.
They expressed hope that the buses will be serviced and maintained when they develop faults.
‘I think it will help a lot because during morning and evening, lots of people on the road struggle to get vehicles to their offices and homes, the trotro buses drivers have been short changing passengers who are mostly stranded, they don’t load to long distances, they load to nearest places and when they get there, they charge additional fares to the next bus station’.
‘If the MMT buses are working, it’s nice, it will help us, this system has been there for a long time, but it faded out. It was due to negligence on the part of the government, it’s good that he has reintroduced the buses, if they can maintain them, it will help us,’ they indicated.
