Smokers, hunters and palmwine tappers to watch their activities

Amasaman (GA), Dec. 23, GNA - Mr Samuel Nii Aryeetey Attoh, Ga District Chief Executive at the weekend advised smokers, hunters and palmwine tappers to refrain from throwing pieces of fire into bushes in order to prevent disasters.

He said, if precautionary measures were taken by the people, monies spent on occurrence of disasters in the area could have gone into development projects.

Mr Attoh gave the advice at the first ordinary meeting of the Ga District Assembly at Amasaman.

The DCE said last year, about 896 million cedis was spent by the Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) in eight communities within the Ga District.

These are Amasaman, Madina, Adenta, Gbawe, Pokuase and Taifa-Burkina where an electrical fault caused the death of a three-year-old girl.

Mr Attoh, who is also the Chairman of the Ga District NADMO deplored the way people put up building in waterways and without regard to laid down regulations.

He said, last year an amount of 600 million cedis was also spent after a rainstorm had hit Krokoshwe, Obakrowa, Ocloo-Kope, Bosuafisee, Ashalaja and Danchira, destroying buildings and other properties.
