Final year students of Junior High Schools in the Tema and Kpone-Katamanso areas joined their mates nationwide to re-write the canceled Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) papers.

The re-write started with the English Paper Two, with no incidents recorded in the Tema Metropolis and Kpone-Katamanso Districts.

The examinations generally started on time at the three centres in the Metropolis; Tema Senior High School and Trinity Lutheran School in Tema.

Two students were, however, absent at the Tema Senior High centre on Monday, as according to the supervisor, one had traveled, while one other girl had given birth, after the main papers and was therefore unable to show up.

At the Mariejose Educational Complex centre, at Zenu in the Kpone-Katamanso District, the situation was not different.

Instead of the registered 314 candidates expected to re-sit the paper at the centre, 313 were present, with only one girl being absent.

Mrs Millicent Caesar, Supervisor at the centre, said the girl did not write the main examinations due to pregnancy.

According to Mrs Caesar, she personally sent for the girl to encourage her to write, but she refused with the excuse that she was shy.

She also indicated that they spoke with the children to boost their morale for the re-sit.
