Koforidua, March 24, GNA- The women's wing of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, known as the Relief Society in the Koforidua district on Monday made a presentation to the Children's Ward of the Regional Hospital to mark the 162nd anniversary of the society. The items presented were a package of hygiene kits containing a towel, toothbrush and paste, soap and a comb each to the children on admission, blankets, toiletries and assorted fruits to the hospital at a cost of fifteen million cedis.

The Sisters of the society also undertook a three-hour clean-up exercise in and around the Children's ward.

Making the presentation, the Koforidua district president of the society, Ms Comfort Adu, said the society was founded in 1842 to give relief to the poor and destitute in society.

She noted that it had been instituted that every year the society selects a needy institution in the municipality and presents them with relief items, which would mitigate the plight of that institution. The nursing sister in-charge of the Children's ward, Ms Mary Asare, who received the items, thanked the society for their donation, which she described as relief not only to the kids and their mothers but also to the whole hospital.
