The Apam Circuit of Christ Little Band, a benevolent society in the Methodist Church has donated food items and cash to the Mephibosheth Training Centre at Gomoa Ankamu in the Gomoa West District.

The donation was part of activities marking the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Society in the Circuit and also to commemorate the 127th anniversary of the founding of the Society in Ghana.

Christ Little Band was founded by four prominent members of the Methodist Church in 1886 in the then Gold Coast.

Mrs Joyce Jetuah, President of the Circuit Christ Little Band who made the presentation said the society was happy that it had brought some happiness into the lives of the children.

Mrs Jetuah who is also the National President of the Ghana Midwives Association, appealed to Ghanaians to help in training children with disabilities to become useful and responsible citizens.

“The day when such children were disposed of when born are over,” she said, and added that “these days they are trained to play useful roles in the society”.

The Reverend Joseph Jehu-Appiah, proprietor of the centre who received the items said he established the centre in 2005 with the help of some friends and benevolent societies.

He said the inmates were given free training with their parents paying only GH?10.00 as Parent-Teacher Association dues a term, and also contributing to the tidying up of the centre.

The Rev Jehu-Appiah, a Pastor of the Victory Bible Church said friends and well-wishers also supported him in feeding the inmates and also paid the teachers and non-teaching staff.

He commended Christ Little Band for supporting the centre since the Society was founded in the Circuit.

Rev Jehu-Appiah said members had been visiting the centre to interact with the inmates and present them with gifts anytime they celebrated their anniversary. He appealed for support for the less fortunate children to grow and become responsible citizens in the society.
