The Chiefs and people of communities making up the Sokode traditional would celebrate one yam festival next year as a sign of unity.
The traditional area is made up of Etoe, Gborgame, Bagble and Lokoe.
Togbe Kwaku Agyeman VII of Sokode Gborgame disclosed this at the outdooring of Mama Dzinu II as Queen of Sokode-Gborgame near Ho.
The 61-year old retired Nursing Officer from the Deme clan of Sokode-Gborgame is known in private life as Madam Elizabeth Yeboah.
Togbe Agyeman said “hopefully next year, we will celebrate the yam festival together. We will do our best to unite.”
He observed that unity in the traditional area would give it greater attention as the most suitable place for investment in higher education in the Ho municipality by both government and non-governmental organisations.
He cited the massive infrastructure being undertaken by government to transform the community Secondary-Technical School into a public institution as an example of bigger things to come when there is unity.
A piece of land has also been secured in the Sokode traditional area to serve as the main campus of the proposed University of Health and Allied Sciences in the Volta Region.
A number of non-governmental organizations were also said to have expressed interest in establishing institutions of higher education in the area.
Togbe Agyeman reminded Mama Dzinu II that her experience and wisdom would be required to overcome developmental challenges in the area and also develop the potentials of the area.
He urged citizens of the community to show the same level of support and respect to the new Queen as they have demonstrated in celebrating her installation.
Mama Dzinu II pledged to co-operate with the chiefs, queens and people in their joint efforts to overcome their developmental challenges.
She called for their co-operation and prayers.
