Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo, Greater Accra Regional Minister, on Monday, called on the Ga Traditional Council to speed up the process of installing a new Ga Mantse to ensure peace and security in the region.

He said if the situation is left the way it is, people would continue to act according to their own will and the region would continue to be in chaos.

Nii Agbo made the call when he paid a courtesy call on the Ga Traditional Council to see at first-hand what transpired at the Ga Mantse palace on Sunday May 11, when some group of people claimed to be installing a new Ga Mantse.

He said the group claiming to be installing a new chief slaughtered a cow and a goat signifying a new installation of the Ga Mantse, a day before the annual ban on drumming and noise making

He said as the Regional Minister, he has oversight responsibility of everything that goes on in the region, including issues of chieftaincy and it is important for anyone who want to become the Ga Mantse to use the right channels.

He noted that tradition exist and citizens must not take the law into their own hands.

Nii Agbo said: “No one should think of having their way through the back door, in their own selfish personal interest.

“We do not live in a lawless country, and that Regional Coordinating Council together with the Police would make sure the laws of the country would be respected.”

He said he is aware that three people have been arrested in relation to the incident, and have mentioned the names of certain identifiable people to be the brain behind their act.

He appealed to the council to make sure the issue is sent to court for the actual perpetrators of the act would be brought to light.
