St. Francis Old Girls Association supports Shekhinah Clinic

Tamale, July 16, GNA - The Tamale branch of the Saint Francis Old Girls Association on Saturday presented assorted food items and detergents to the Shekhinah Clinic in Tamale to help cater for patients at the clinic.

The items included bread, rice, cooking oil and toilet soap valued at two million cedis.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, the President of the Association, Madam Adriana Kandilige said the association was touched with the quality healthcare services the clinic was rendering to the vulnerable in society.

She said the association has decided to make the presentation because "your clinic is rendering free medical services to patients who are mostly destitute in our society; Our gesture should be seen as part of our social services to the patients."

Madam Kandilige called on other benevolent organizations to assistance the clinic to continue to render free healthcare services to the vulnerable who could not afford to pay for their medical bills, saying, " they are also part of us and their health care should be of great concern to all of us".

Receiving the items, Dr. David Abdulai, medical doctor in-charge of the clinic thanked the association for the presentation. He said services in the clinic are aimed primarily at the poor and destitute, purely for love of God and neighbour and are absolutely free, adding: "We depend in conditionally on divine providence".

Dr. Abdulai announced that the clinic had started a feeding programme for mad people and other destitute in the Tamale Metropolis since 1992 and appealed to NGOs to support the programme The clinic has high concentration of HIV/AIDS patients and the mental patients undergoing treatment.
