St Francis Sec/Tech holds graduation

Akim Oda, July 30, GNA - The Birim South District Director of Education, Mrs Stella K. Nanor has appealed to parents to stop attacking teachers on the slightest excuse.

She explained that when teachers are attacked during the presence of their students, the teachers were often humiliated and such incidents turn to lower the self esteem of the teachers and could negatively affect their overall performace in school. The appeal was contained in a speech read on behalf of Mrs Nanor at the graduation ceremony for final year students of the St Francis Secondary/Technical School at Akim Oda on Saturday. She called on parents to give teachers the convenient atmosphere to handle their wards when they go astray.

The headmaster of the school, Mr. Dominic Acqual urged the students to be disciplined and focus on what they want to be in future and forge ahead to fight for those goals through academic exercise.

Mr. Acquah remanded the second year students that they would be writing their final year examination in May/June next year and advised them to prepare fast since "time and tide waits for no man".

He urged the students to be mindful of the dreadful HIV/AIDS disease and urged them to stay away from pre-marital sex.

The presiding member of the District Assembly, Mr Robert Oscar Prah, who chaired the function, appealed to the school authorities to institute discipline in the school rules and regulation so as to inject sanity in the school environment.

He reminded the students that their future "is in their hands" and that their parents and school authorities were just assisting them to do shape their future.

The 640 graduates were each presented with a certificate while the outstanding ones were awarded prizes.
