Mrs. Christiana Sobotie, the Principal of Saint Monica’s College of Education, has appealed to past students and other stakeholders to support financially towards the rehabilitation of the approach road of the College, which is in a bad shape.

The Principal, who could not readily give the target amount, said the project, involving resurfacing, tarring and gravelling, is one of the flagship tasks of the College’s 85th anniversary celebration slated for November, this year.

Speaking at the official launch of the celebration at Asante-Mampong, Mrs. Sobotie said the College, since its inception, has evolved and developed significantly and still remains focused throughout these years regardless of the odds.

She commended the support of the Government, the Chiefs and people of the Mampong Traditional Area, the Anglican Church, to the College over the past eight and a half decades, and said this had aided its expansion to assume its place in society, as educators in pursuit of quality and excellence.

Mrs Sobotie also gave thumps up to the past and present staff for the various roles they had played towards the steady progress and development of the College.

“This makes the theme for the celebration – '85 Years of empowering women through quality education and moral values’ more relevant”, she added.

Most Reverend Doctor Daniel Yinkah-Sarfo, Chairman of the College Council, paid glowing tribute to the founding fathers and mothers of the Church, whose toil gave birth to the College.

He prayed that the Almighty God would continue to bless the College to continue to produce quality students to take up responsible positions in society.

Madam Margaret Oteng, Founder of St. Margaret University College, who was at the launch, urged students to remain disciplined and work hard so that they do not come out as ordinary teachers, but people prepared to support national progress.

She encouraged all alumni of the College to contribute their quota to the welfare of the College.
