Some stakeholders in land administration have called for a Brong Ahafo Regional Spatial Development Framework to assist the proper planning and land administration of the area.
They expressed concern about the release of large tracts of land to individuals, institutions, and investors for projects that did not require such huge sizes.
In a communiqué issued at the end of a Stakeholders Meeting on the implementation of the Land Administration Project (LAP-2) in the Region, the participants urged the Brong Ahafo Regional Planning Coordinating Unit and the Brong Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs (BARHC) to educate the public on the effects of the release of such large tracts of land.
The meeting was organized by the Civil Society Coalition on Land (CICOL).
The stakeholders also expressed concern about the slow implementation of the Street Naming and Property Addressing System.
President John Dramani Mahama has given an 18-month ultimatum to the Municipal and District Assemblies to complete the project.
They, therefore, called on the Regional Coordinating Unit and the BARHC to demand from the assemblies a report on the project.
Agencies on Land issues, they said, should also embark on intensive education on the activities and progress made so far by the LAP-2 in the region.
They urged the people in the region to change their attitudes towards land acquisition to ensure proper planning and administration.
Traditional rulers and the people should accept and recognize the role and contribution of women in the administration of land, they said.
