Stephen Ntim visited the house of Justice Adjakuma to sympathize with the family
Former First Vice Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP) Stephen Ntim has expressed shock over the passing of Justice Adjakuma, the young man who lost his eyes during a ‘Let my Vote Count’ demonstration in September 2015.
Mr Adjakuma died on 12th May, 2019 at a hospital at Mallam in Accra.
According to Mr Ntim, he least expected that this calamity could end the life of Adjakuma although he admits unreservedly that it was going to adversely affect his normal daily life activities.
In a statement, he recounted when he visited Justice Adzakuma at home to commiserate with him when the latter was hurt, because they were together on that fateful Let My Vote Count (LMVC) demonstration day.
He further said: “What happened to Justice could have happened to me or Saratu Atta or Moses Anim or Gabby or any of the party members who were there in the frontline, near the YMCA building.
“My only consolation is that he worked very hard and made the ultimate sacrifice for this party and that he will have no regrets whatsoever, wherever he finds himself now. I wish to extend my heartfelt condolences, through this medium, to his wife and children, and of course to his extended family members in general, for the great loss they have suffered as a result of his demise. May his name reign in the hearts of all genuine Danquah- Busia-Dombo believers and this unfortunate development must not deter the rest of us in our quest for the party’s forward march.

Let my vote count demo
Some members of the ‘Let My Vote Count Alliance’ clashed with the police during the demonstration exercise to demand new voters’ register in the run-up to the 2016 general election. The Police in their bid to restore peace and order released rubber bullets, tear gas and water cannons on the protesters who were demanding the compilation of a new voters’ register before the general elections.
Several people sustained injuries, including Justice Adjakuma, who lost one eye.
Minister for Communication at the time, Omane Boamah accused the young man of applying tomato puree on the eye to court public sympathy. An unfortunate comment that was rehashed by several NDC communicators on various media platforms.
The then-presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, hailed the young man describing him as a true patriot. He expressed his deepest sympathies to Justice Adzakumah and his family, who, he said, had sacrificed so much for the common cause of Ghana.
