Stop fighting over the location of district capital - Fobih

Assin Adiembra (C/R) Jan. 28, GNA - The Minister of Lands and Forestry, Prof. Dominic Kwaku Fobih has admonished chiefs and the leadership of youth associations in the newly created Assin South District to cooperate with the government to make the conception a success.

Prof. Fobih, who is the Member of Parliament for the area appealed to them not to make the location of the capital of the new district divide their ranks.

"Personal interests and chieftaincy issues should not cloud our sense of judgement in this matter," he advised.

A section of the people had objected to the location of the capital at Assin Manso. They preferred Nyankomase Ahenkro.

Speaking at the inauguration of Assin Adiembra Youth Association at Adiembra, the Minister commended the youth of the town for forming the association to accelerate the development of the community and assured them of his support in carrying out projects they would initiate.

Prof. Fobih also commended the association for raising funds to support the education of needy pupils of the town and promised to assist them to construct a six-unit classroom block for the primary school. Mr. Derick Owusu-Ambrose, Assemblyman urged the people to rekindle their communal spirit reminding them that community development was a responsibility of the citizens.

Mr. Owusu-Ambrose, a pharmacist at the Saltpond Government Hospital urged parents to advise their children working outside the town to join the association to enable them to contribute to the development of the town.
