Stop indiscriminate burying of dead relatives - Overlord of Bawku

The Overlord of Kusaug Traditional Area, Zugraan Naaba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II has called on district assemblies in the area to acquire land sites for use as cemeteries to prevent indiscriminate burying of dead relatives.

This, according to him would prevent burial of dead people near residential areas and even water sources including boreholes.

Spokesperson for Zugraan Asigri Abugrago Azoka the second, Patrick Adakugudu, says, this is part of measures to turn the commercial town into a beautiful settlement.

The overlord was speaking at this year’s Samanpiid festival held in Bawku.

The tasks of keeping the environment clean all the time is everyone’s business. That is according to the overlord, Zugraan Naaba Asigri Abugrago Azoka the second, in a speech read by the spokesperson, Patrick Adakugudu.

“I wish to urge all district assemblies to acquire land sites for burying relatives.” He says.

The Overlord also speaks on the potential saying, the people of Kusaug are full of potential and therefore harnessing them for the development of the area is key.

“Bawku traditional area is full of potential. What is left to be done is to continue to examine and use these for development to our benefits.”

The overlord expresses gratitude to those who contributed immensely towards the restoration of peace in Bawku.

Naaba Abugrago II says, both the NDC and NPP made effective interventions towards the restoration process.

According to him, the Bawku inter-Ethnic peace committee is still working hard and religious bodies especially the Catholic church, whose bishops gathered in Bawku to say a prayers for peace, have played a role and continue to be involved.

“We are now in the final stages of officially declaring the conflict as over through the proposed ceremony to “bury the okra stick”.
