Mr. Ernest Birmeh ( Dr. Think Twice)
A Social Commentator Mr. Ernest Birmeh popularly known as Dr. Think Twice has advised the youth in the country to desist from paying tithe and offering to religious leaders.
He believes religious leaders only intimidate and kill potentials in the youth through their sermons.
He entreated the youth to use their monies profitably, saying the culture of silence needs to be broken.
“Never pay tithe and offering to them, be bold. They are never helping you; they are contributing factor to the woes of the youth in this country. If they don’t preach that children should be respected, be bold, pay no money to them.
Use your monies for something else, for they are not helping you. That culture of silence needs to be broken. Jesus showed example on how children/youth should be respected. The Western world have adopted that, hence over trillions of jobs is coming from them,” he advised.
Dr. Think Twice made these remarks to a gathering of over eight hundred students of the University Hall of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), during their hall week celebration.
According to him, respect for children in Ghana and sub-Saharan Africa is quiet minimal, accusing religious leaders of neglecting rights of children.
“They only preach on one side, youth should respect elders without pre -emphasis for our elders to respect the children/youth.
This attitude of our cultural belief and practices coupled with our religious leaders’ attitude of never placing emphasis on respect for children during numerous sermons, has contributed to various challenges facing the youth today,” he pointed out.
Dr. Think Twice blamed society for mounting pressure on people to achieve unrealistic targets in life.
“Negative societal pressure questions people ask include: when will you marry, when will you give birth, does your manhood works, prove it, how responsible are you without a child and million more,” he observed.
