Gordon Asubonteng, the Dormaa Central Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) has dismissed assertions in the Municipality that the disability fund is being disbursed to beneficiaries based on their political inclinations.
He, therefore, appealed to those behind the accusations to stop the politicization of the fund, saying the allegations were unfounded because the facility was given without the consideration political affiliation.
Mr. Asubonteng made the appeal during the presentation of a cheque for GHC 9,075.00 out of an amount of GHC11,700.00 to 14 members of the Ghana Federation of the Physically Disabled (GFPD) in the Municipality, to enhance their socio-economic conditions.
The (GHC11,700.00), constitute two per cent of the Municipality’s share of the District Assembly’s Common Fund (DACF) for the second quarter of 2014.
Presenting the cheques to the beneficiaries, the MCE said the government had taken critical notice of the significant contributions being made by the GFPD towards the development of the country.
He announced that 20 per cent of the total figure had been set aside for putting up an office complex and a workshop for the Federation, where members would be trained on income generating activities and also equipped with other entrepreneurial/employable skills.
Mr. Nicholas Ansah, on behalf of members of the Federation, thanked the MCE and gave the assurance that the fund would be used for its intended purpose.
