Stores burn to ashes at Nsawam

Six stores including a cold store, phone shop, tailoring shop, akpeteshie store and others were burnt to ashes by fire in the early hours of yesterday at Nsawam.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr Jacob Nii Quaye, the owner of one of the stores, said some of the items destroyed included, several boxes of fish and GHS10,000.00.

Others included barbering machines, video deck, furniture and personal belongings.

Mr Nii Quaye said the Nsawam/Adoagyire fire officers took two hours to put the fire under control, but no casualties were recorded and appealed to the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) for support.

Mr Nii Quaye also pleaded with the Nsawam/Adoagyire Municipal Assembly to come to their aid. GNA
