Stray animals harassing orphanage

Tamale, April 23, GNA- Madam Beatrice Agyeman, Assistant Supervisor of the Nyohini children's home has expressed worry about the harassment of stray animals at the orphanage on constant basis.

She said even though the inmates were under protection, bulls and other domestic stray animals within the Tamale Metropolis invade the premises and cause havoc to property.

She said they were also a threat to the children's lives, which needed to be addressed to ensure sanity.

Madam Agyeman raised the concern at the weekend when the Youth of the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) church embarked on a two-hour cleaning exercise on the premises of the orphanage and presented some items to the children.

The cleaning exercise was part of the church's annual Youth Week of prayer set aside every year to embark on some activities that would impact positively on the lives of certain groups of people in the society.

This year's event is on the theme: "A heart that worships God is the dwelling place of Christ" and was also meant to share gifts with the less privileged in society.

Madam Agyeman appealed to the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly task force to work tirelessly in ensuring that all stray animals were confined to address the problem.

She appealed to NGOs and other corporate bodies to assist the orphanage to build a fence wall to save the situation. The church later presented used clothing, detergents, baby foods, beverages and napkins worth about 3.5 million cedis to the 29 inmates. Pastor Peter Badu, the Associate District Pastor of the church who presented the items called for divine intervention to ensure that the inmates grew up to be responsible citizens in society.
