Students of the Begoro Presbyterian Secondary School on Monday dawn went on a demonstration and vandalized school property worth several millions of cedis in protest against the school authorities' alleged ''insensitivity to their health care.''
The students said they were protesting against the reported collapse of seven female students from an attack by a strange disease within three days and were admitted to the Begoro Government Hospital.
The students vandalised the Senior Housemasters' residence, the offices of the Assistant Headmaster and the School Chaplain.
They blamed the Chaplain for not being "spiritually inclined" to halt an alleged evil spirit that they claimed was haunting the female students in their hostel.
A high-powered team from the district assembly and the District Directorate of Education had to rush to the school to intervene and restore calm for academic work to continue.
The Fanteakwa District Chief Executive, Mr Ebenezer Ofoe Caesar, told the students to make use of all channels of communication. "Don't take the law into your hands to generate indiscipline on the campus," he said.
Mr Ceasar and the team later visited the hospital where they were told four of the victims on admission had been discharged.
