Kpando, July 27, GNA - Mr Pius Adanuti, Kpando District Chief Executive, has called on senior secondary school graduates, to avoid peer pressure and negative lifestyles that could drag them into trouble.
"Hasten slowly. Do not jump the queue to become mothers and fathers. You have long years ahead of you. Strive to remain chaste, it pays to wait....", he said.
Mr Adanuti gave the advice at a Prize Giving Day of Kpando Secondary School (KPASEC) for 315 final year students. He appealed to the students to acquire computer skills to facilitate their future career development.
Reverend Frank Anku, Synod Clerk of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, urged the students to go into the world with humility and confidence.
"Put aside Goliath's type of pride and complacency and wear the crown of David's confidence and determination to enable you surmount all life's difficulties. The road of success is a path full of roses", he said.
Mr Samuel Donkor Gyang, Volta Regional Director of Education, praised the staff of the School for their commitment and dedication to duty. Mr George J. Bissi, Headmaster of the School, said the school recorded 98.3 percent pass in the 2003 Basic Education Certificate Examination, with 140 out of 240 student passing all the seven subjects. He said for the fifth time running, the School has won the Independence Day Anniversary debate initiated six years ago.
Mr Bissi appealed to the Kpando District Assembly to rehabilitate the School's access roads, provide drains and speed up work on the Assembly/Dining Hall complex that was started in 1978.
Mr Kofi Bansah, a Director of Prisons and President of Kpando Old Students Association, appealed to the out-going students to be good ambassadors of their alma mater and lead moral lifestyles to prevent HIV/AIDS infection.
