According to the Headmistress,some residents invade the school and illegally connect to its water
The Akropong School for the Blind has received an ultramodern ICT lab with sets of computers that have a technology which makes them user friendly to visually impaired persons.
The lab that has 25 sets of computers from the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communication, GIFEC, forms part of government’s effort to improve the learning of ICT for persons with disability.
The items were presented at the launch of the schools 75th Anniversary.
Speaking to GBC’s Radio Ghana, the Headmistress, Mahela Narh raised concerns about the lack of a proper fence wall which has left the vulnerable students at the mercy of criminals in the community.
The almost 80 year school has churned out a number of prominent personalities including state attorneys, broadcasters among others. However, it lacks a number of facilities including a proper dining Hall, basic materials for visually impaired persons such as the braille and accommodation to contain the increasing number of students.
At the launch of the schools 75 Anniversary, the Headmistress, Madam Mahela Narh said some residents invade the school and illegally connect to its water sources due to poor fencing.
Another challenge is the lack of computers which Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communication, GIFEC, partially responded to with the provision of 25 computers.
Director, Sustainability and partnership Alhaji Faisal Issahaku Gbanjili who presented the computers said government is determined to leave no one behind in its digitization agenda.
The 75th anniversary which will be climaxed in June next year will be preceded by a number of activities including durbars and clean-up exercises.
