Over one hundred students of Swedru School of Business (SWESBUS) led by their Headmaster, Mr Samuel Afrifa Appiagyei, spent over four hours to clean the Agona West Assembly and the bungalow road.

They weeded the compound of the Assembly and main bungalow road.

The exercise formed part of the eight edition of the National Sanitation Day clean-up in the Municipality which the school did not take part.

The school authorities therefor fixed June 20 to undertake the exercise.

Addressing the students after the exercise, Mr Samuel Oppong, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), said students could play important roles in sanitation management, to ensure sound and clean environment.

He reminded the students that as future leaders, they had the greatest responsibility to ensure that members of the public avoided littering in streets and dumping of refuse in gutters.

The MCE advised them against using short-cuts to get rich through “Sakawa,” which he said, would jeopardize their future.

Mr Oppong announced that the Assembly had allocated 340 mono desks to the SWESBUS to enhance quality education.

Mr Appiagyei said it was better for all schools, especially second cycle institutions, to give the National sanitation Day clean-up exercise their maximum support, to promote environmental cleanliness.

He urged the heads of educational institutions to encourage their students and tutors to fully participate in the exercise to ensure its success.
