Students clean Sunyani

Sunyani, Jan. 3, GNA - Brong-Ahafo Students Union (BASU) on Wednesday organized a massive exercise that lasted for about six hours in Sunyani to help maintain the regional capital's outstanding status in environmental cleanliness. The students, numbering more than 400 and led by Mr. Anane Agyei, the President, were joined by a cross section of the public. They weeded and swept bushy areas, desilted gutters, removed plastic waste materials and swept the principal streets.

Sunyani, Jan. 3, GNA - Brong-Ahafo Students Union (BASU) on Wednesday organized a massive exercise that lasted for about six hours in Sunyani to help maintain the regional capital's outstanding status in environmental cleanliness. The students, numbering more than 400 and led by Mr. Anane Agyei, the President, were joined by a cross section of the public. They weeded and swept bushy areas, desilted gutters, removed plastic waste materials and swept the principal streets. Mr. Agyei told the Ghana News Agency after the exercise that the union intended to undertake the exercise regularly as part of the union's contribution in making the region ready for visitors during the celebration of the country's 50th independence anniversary. He said environmental cleanliness was important for nation building and noted with concern about the littering of urban areas, particularly after Christmas festivities. Mr Agyei appealed to other student unions to support and promote environmental cleanliness.
