The youth of Suaman-Dadieso in the Suaman District of the Western Region have expressed their displeasure over failure of the local authorities to account for their stewardship for more than seven years.

They accused the chiefs, the District Chief Executive, Mr. Joseph Bertino and the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Mr. Stephen Ackah, for neglecting the development needs of the area.

This is contained in a statement copied to the Ghana News Agency in Takoradi and signed by Mr. Emmanuel Asiako, the Convener and Augustine Febiri, the General Secretary of the group.

The statement said:” We are saddened to see how the area is deprived of basic infrastructure among other needs as if we do not have leadership in the community”.

It said: “We the youth for Suaman development will put these inefficiencies at the door steps of the leadership for not showing much commitment and zeal in utilizing resources available for the development of the community”.

The statement indicated that the chiefs, the DCE and the MP had failed to roll out policies and programmes that would facilitate development.

It said “As concerned youth in the community, we find it disheartening that leaders in such portfolios are not using resources meant for the development of Suaman for its rightful purposes but only few people at the helm of affairs are benefiting from them.”

They mentioned some abandoned projects such as Dadieso Polyclinic project, school blocks, Information Communication centre and bad town roads.

In view of this, it said, residents had to trek long distance to Enchi and other districts to access healthcare thereby risking the lives of pregnant women and seriously sick people.

The youth therefore called on the authorities concerned to render account of their stewardship within a shortest possible time or else they would advise themselves accordingly.
