Sunciti FM to hit Sunyani

WE promised you of letting you in about the freshest radio station to hit Sunyani but even before we do that our intelligence has gathered that another political stalwart in Sunyani is putting resources together to invade the radio industry.

This invasion is likely to see three radio stations either folding up or taking on a new identity. Enough of that and back to today’s story.

Sunyani is gradually becoming the nerve center of radio stations in the brong Ahafo region. The regional capital can boast of Sky FM, Radio BAR, Dinpa FM, Ark FM, Life FM, Parrot FM,(belonging to Sunyani Polytechnic), and Space FM.

Storm FM would certainly start transmission by the close of August and before the storm would be over, another radio station, SunCiti FM, would have announced its presence.

The coming of SunCiti FM would be interesting in several ways to both listeners and radio presenters of at least on particular station. Our sources very close to the brain behind the upcoming Sunciti FM told us last week that the new station would surely cause a stir because the owner is still a major stakeholder in another radio station in Sunyani.

It would therefore be exciting to see for the first time, how one person would own two stations which is in direct competition. We are closely monitoring events and would keep you posted. But we can confidently tell you that Space FM’s, English newscaster, Mavis Akuma Quaye, is leaving Space FM very soon for Sunciti FM.

That would mean the newsroom of Space FM would be losing the second reader in less than six months. In March, Papa Abisa left for the UK where he is expected to start working with one of the Ghanaian radio stations soon. It is not clear whether the coming back of super star, Serwaa Akoto has a link with Mavis’ decision to move out. But the good news for Space FM is her exit would not affect the newsroom in any way as long management keep a firm grip on Serwaa Akoto.

Meanwhile reliable information reaching us indicates the host of Space FM’s “Morning Flight” progamme, Nana KAS, has sacked his producer, Seth Opoku Agyemang. According to our source, immediately Nana KAS returned from the UK, where is currently doing his masters degree programme, the hard working producer was asked to step aside. We are yet to confirm the reason for the fight between the two gentlemen.

During Nana KAS’ absence, the show was hosted by Yaw Owusu, who did very well including controlling the panelists on the show who sometimes could be stubborn.
