Professor Thomas Kwadwo Djan–Fordjour, Rector of the Sunyani Polytechnic, has asked students to be disciplined and accept to work hard, telling them that, this was the path to success.
They should be serious with their studies, he said, pointing out that, trying to cut corners, simply would not do.
He was speaking at the 20th matriculation ceremony of the polytechnic held in Sunyani for 1,684 fresh students.
They are made up of 1,140 males and 543 females and they would be pursuing degree, higher national diploma and diploma programmes.
Prof Djan–Fordjour told the newly admitted students to obey the statues and regulations of the institution to avoid trouble.
He gave the assurance that the polytechnic would give protection to the disciplined and the law abiding but would be ruthless with trouble makers.
It would not deal kindly with anybody caught engaged in illicit drugs, sexual harassment of female students and alcoholism.
The Rector urged them to show responsibility so that they did not disappoint themselves and their parents, who were making great sacrifices to assist them to live their academic dreams.
