Brigadier General Ransford Kwame Agbemasu (Rtd) has admonished personnel of the Support Services Brigade of the Armed Forces to refrain from social vices.
The retired Brigadier General described as unpardonable, the involvement of some service personnel in social vices such as armed robbery and galamsey, which dent the hard won reputation of the Armed Forces.
“I am happy that the Military High Command is taking pragmatic steps to severely deal with these bad nuts. The Ghana Armed Forces is a noble profession and has no place for criminals.” He said.
He was speaking at the Support Services Brigade Group’s end of year West African Soldiers Social Activities (WASSA), held at Burma Camp in Accra to climax the activities for the year 2014.
The Commander of the Support Services Brigade, Brigadier General Musa Whajah, noted that the year 2014 saw some developments in infrastructure such as the construction of a new office complex for the camp commandant, the construction of an arch at the entrance to the Support Services’ headquarters and acquisition of canopies, chairs and tables for holding events.
The WASSA saw the awarding of persons who had distinguished themselves in duty during the year 2014.
The best civilian employee award went to Mr. Joseph Wilson for “exceptionally meritorious service” as a messenger since 1987.
Best Female Non-Commissioned officer (NCO) was awarded to Corporal Rabi Anabilla Muhammed for her “discipline and commitment to duty”, while the best NCO was awarded to Corporal Teyenaa Isaac.
Private Deborah Muah was awarded the best female soldier of the elephant fraternity
The Commanding Officer of the Pay Office Colonel Sampana Babilla was also awarded for service.
The Support Services Brigade also honoured Mr. Richard Anamoo, Director General of Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) and Mr. Mawuli Agbesi, Managing Director of National Investment Bank for civil social support.
The event was patronized by Brigadier General Mike Akpatsu, Commander General of the Ghana Military Academy, Mr. Mike Griffin, General Manager of GPHA and the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Mr. Joshua Nii Laryea Afotey-Agbo.
The Regional Minister pledged his support for ongoing infrastructure expansion with 100 cement bags.
