Accra, June 8, GNA - John Bakah, an Accra based Surveyor, was on Tuesday put before an Accra Circuit Court for defrauding Mr Sylvanus Akpebu, a Carpenter of 11.5 million cedis with the promise of securing him a plot of land.

Bakah, who was charged with defrauding by false pretence, pleaded not guilty.

The Court presided over by Mrs Elizabeth Ankomah granted him 20 million cedis bail with one surety. He is to reappear on July 6. Prosecuting, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Mr J. K. Abraham said Mr Akpebu approached the Mother-in-Law of the Bakah and expressed interest in acquiring a land.

Bakah and the mother-in-law took Mr Akpebu to a site, which they were offering for sale and after examining the land Akpebu handed over the money to them.

DSP Abraham said Mr Akpebu later realised that the site had been taken over by another person and when he reported to the matter to the Police Bakah refunded 3.5 million cedis as part payment of the money he had collected.
