Swedish delegation visits Upper West Region

Wa, Nov. 1, GNA - A 30-member Plan Sweden delegation is in the Upper West Region to inspect Plan Ghana development projects and how activities of the non-governmental organisation is impacting on the lives of the people.

Plan Sweden is a co-sponsor of the Plan Ghana and the delegation would visit the Wa West, Sissala West and Sissala East districts and interact with community members during its four-day tour to promote good relations between Ghana and Sweden.


Madam Asa Malmqvist, Group Visits Manager of Plan Sweden who is the head of the delegation, said members of the delegation were mostly sponsors who donate monies through Plan Ghana.


She said the delegation was in the region to inspect school projects, dams, borehole and household toilet facilities as well as interact with members of Village Saving and Loans Associations, children's clubs and sponsor families.

The Upper West Regional Minister, Mr. George Hikah Benson, told the delegation during a courtesy call on him that Plan Ghana was operating in eight districts in the region and its development efforts had touched the hearts of the people.


He said the NGO had provided several dams and school infrastructure and credit facilities for the rural people that were impacting positively on their lives.


Mr. Benson briefed the delegation about the recent floods in the three northern regions and thanked Plan Ghana for donating relief items to the flood victims.
