The Swedru Small Tax Office of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has processed and handed over 9, 236 ‘Tin Certificates’ to applicants under the mass nationwide registration exercise for the Coronavirus Alleviation Programme (CAP).

The CAP was introduced by the government to assist Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to benefit from the government’s GH¢600 million stimulus package.

Mr Abdul- Rahman Musah, Manager of the Agona Swedru Taxpayer Office of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) who disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview, said the registration exercise had been heavily patronized.

He said the Swedru Taxpayer Office just like all other GRA offices, was helping the applicants through the exercise and it had been very smooth since it started a month ago.

Mr Abdul-Rahman Musah hinted that the Swedru Office covered towns and villages in the Agona West and Municipalities, Gomoa West, Gomoa Central, Gomoa East, and Agona East Districts.

Since mid-May, there had been very huge numbers of applicants accessing the Tin at the office, which had also experienced some few challenges.

They included occasional system malfunction due to massive use across the country, sometimes, leading to delays in serving tax-payers faster as expected.

Mr Abdul-Rahman Musah said the second challenge was the enforcement of the COVID-19 pandemic protocols among many applicants who waited outside to be served.

He, however, stated that security personnel were on hand to ensure that applicants were in masks, their temperature checked and hands washed before they were served.

Mr Abdul-Rahman Musah expressed appreciation to the applicants for their co-operation and the hard work of the staff at Swedru Office of GRA for their exceptional devotion to the urgent call to duty.
