There was calm, solemn and sober atmosphere at the T.I Ahamdiyya International School at Agboba, a suburb of Accra, when the Ghana News Agency (GNA) visited the school on Monday.

When the GNA got to the school at 08:45 am, it was noticed that both teachers and students were present with classes in session. Authorities of the school would not speak to the media on the death of the Ameer Dr Wahab A. Adam at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra after a protracted illness.

Meanwhile, a statement issued by the Mission and signed by the General Secretary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, Ahmed Anderson, said the Ameer died on Sunday. It read: “With heavy heart, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, Ghana, wishes to announce the death of Maulvi Dr. A. Wahab Adam, the Ameer and Missionary-In-charge. We are all from Allah, and to Him shall we all return.”

The statement said the late Ameer passed away on Sunday, June 22, at about 1l am, at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. “The National Executive Council will meet shortly to announce the burial arrangement, in line with Islamic Tradition”, the statement said.

According to the statement, a book of condolence would be opened at the Mission's National Headquarters at Osu, Nyaniba Estates, from Monday, June 23 at 10.00am. “Dr Wahab Adam left behind a wife and seven children,” the statement added.
