A three-day seminar, centered on showcasing the quality and productivity of Japanese activities across the African Sub-Region and also highlighting the first ever upcoming Tokyo Conference on African Development( TICAD) to be held in Kenya later August this year, ended with a tour to the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research(NMIMR) last Thursday at Legon.
Journalists from three African regions- Kenya, DR Congo and Zambia paid a courtesy call to the Institute for medical research and to discover what has been done so far through the Institute which was primarily set up in memory of the late Dr Hideyo Noguchi and which apparently is seen as the establishment of relationship between Ghana and Japan.
The team took the time to visit the Pagoda-Prof Kenji Honda commemorative plaque, the clinical pathology department and the Parasitological department.They also took time to tour the Solar Power site.
The Japan government through the Japanese Embassy of Ghana and JICA has, and continues to provide strategic and operational activities across the country over the years. This includes support in health, education, infrastructure and agriculture. Similarly, these productive and quality projects are replicated across all the African territories.
The impartation of the “KAIZEN”- a traditional Japanese strategic module for quality and productivity improvement through the strengthening of Business Development Services (BDS) has yielded ample dividends for example in the Ashanti region.
MASA IIDA, the First Secretary to the Japanese Ambassador to Ghana, maintained that it is the utmost wish and will to see more of such developments which in effect will go a long way to further strengthen the already existing relationship between Ghana and Japan.
