Sekondi, July 12, GNA - The Takoradi International Company, an energy service company at Aboadze on Wednesday, presented items worth 100 million cedis to the Sekondi Central Prisons, Takoradi Young Men Christian Association (YMCA) and Aboadze Jesus Is King (JIK) Orphanage in Sekondi.

The Sekondi Central Prisons received a cornmill, YMCA three six burner gas cookers and a set of gas cylinders and JIK Orphanage, a deep freezer.

Superintendent Afua Serwaa Asibey of the Prisons Service, Miss Emelia Boafo, Principal of YMCA and Evangelist Samuel Bangura, Founder of JIK Orphanage received the items on behalf of their institutions. Making the presentation, Mr Malcolm Wrigley, Board Chairman of TICO, hoped the donation would assist the institutions to achieve their missions.

He said TICO would come to the aid of the institutions, when it became necessary, as part of its social responsibility, which was to "engage all stakeholders to promote quality health, education and entrepreneurship".

Mr Wrigley said TICO would begin its expansion programme as soon as the government gave the green light.

He advised the public "to practise energy conservation to minimize cost and use of electricity".

Mr Philip Kwesi Nkrumah, Shama-Ahanta East Metropolitan Chief Executive, commended TICO for complimenting the efforts of the Metropolitan Assembly to meet the needs of communities and institutions. He called on companies to emulate the shinning example of TICO and assist communities and institutions to meet their needs and goals. On behalf of the beneficiaries, Superintendent Asibey thanked TICO for its generous gesture.

He said the Sekondi Female Prison had not had a cornmill for a long time and the inmates had to go to town to grind maize.
