Isaac Ashai Odamtten, Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, has hinted that his outfit has on its drawing board plans to construct an access road to connect Tema Manhean, through VALCO, to the Tema township, an issue which has become a source of worry to many in the Metropolis.
There is always a huge vehicular traffic along the Tema Fishing Harbour-Tema Manhean road at almost every hour of the day, leaving tongues wagging as to whether the Assembly cannot create an access road to connect motorists from Tema Manhean to the industrial city of Tema.
The Tema Mayor dropped the hint when he addressed the chiefs and people of Tema Manhean at a ceremony to mark the historical visit to their ancestral home at the well-known Meridian Hotel site for the first time, after 55 years of departure from the place.
According to him, the congestion along the stretch, especially during working hours, has become a source of worry to the Assembly, saying that was the reason why the authority had decided to look for funds to create an access road that would ease traffic congestion.
Isaac Odamtten mentioned other projects his outfit intends to execute across the length and breadth of Tema Manhean during his tenure, assuring the chiefs and people of Tema Manhean that if for nothing at all, those projects were going to be started while he is still Mayor of Tema.
He mentioned the construction of stores at Tema Manhean, which, according to him, had already started, development of the community center enclave, fencing of the cemetery and public schools in the town, and the construction of a lorry terminal at Bankuman, a suburb of Tema Manhean.
The TMA boss also talked about the erection of two police posts to bring law and order in the town, expansion project to take place at the Anglican School, and the redevelopment of the Tema Manhean market, which sod was cut a couple of weeks ago.
He explained further that there was a redevelopment plan for a U-Compound project to be constructed in the town, as well as the construction of drains in Bankuman and Zinglishoe, another suburb of Tema Manhean, all in the Assembly’s quest to ensure that the people receive their fair share of the ‘Better Ghana Agenda’.
