TOPP supports five community schools to enhance education

Twifo Praso (C/R), July 30, GNA - The management of the Twifo Oil Palm Plantation (TOPP) Limited, on Thursday donated items worth 300 million cedis to five community schools to enhance education in the Twifo-Hemang-Lower-Denkyira District.

The items, which included 10 computers, assorted textbooks, bookshelves, 120 bags of cement and some gallons of paint were donated to schools in Twifo-Hemang, Mampong, Aduabeng, Ntafrewaso and Twifo-Morkwa.

Mr Malik Amin, Managing Director of TOPP, who presented the items at separate ceremonies, also promised to renovate existing toilet facilities and construct new ones for the primary schools at Aduabeng and Ntafrewaso.

He said the gesture was to strengthen the already cordial relationship between TOPP and the communities and also to fulfil their social responsibilities.

He urged the people to ensure that the company's out-growers did not divert their fruits to other companies, stressing that the company could only be able to meet its social responsibilities if it made profit.

Mr Abraham Odoom, District Chief Executive, thanked the company for the gesture and gave the assurance that the items would be put to good use.

He also gave the assurance that his administration would support the company's work by ensuring that the out growers remained faithful. Mr Odoom asked parents to reciprocate the company's gesture by sending their children to school and make sure they remained in school, since that was the best legacy they could leave for them.

Nana Kwesi Kene III, Omanhene of Morkwa Traditional Area, also thanked TOPP for the gesture and said: "We are now reaping the sacrifices we made when our cocoa farms were destroyed to make way for the establishment of the company."
