Accra, Dec. 29, GNA - Bishop N.A. Tackie-Yarboi, the Presiding Bishop of Victory Bible Church International (VBCI), has urged Ghanaians to use the festive occasion to ensure that the country's democracy grew. "We must be mindful as a nation and work together to move. Develop the type of leadership that would develop dynamic young leaders to take up roles expected of them to achieve long-range growth for the country," he said in his New Year message.

Bishop Tackie-Yarboi commended the Government for the peaceful atmosphere prevailing in the country, saying the Government had taken steps over the past few years to make Ghana the cradle of peace and stability; good governance; rule of law; respect for human rights; human capacity building based development and the health delivery in the Sub-Saharan African Region.

In the message signed by the General Secretary of the Church, the Rev. Cornelius Adja Cofie, Bishop Tarkie-Yarboi challenged the public to ensure that churches in the various communities preached peace and stability that would serve as a unifying ingredient in nation building, reconciliation and national development.

"We are optimistic that the year 2007 will offer President John Agyekum Kufuor another golden opportunity to prove himself in a formidably difficult role to facilitate more rapid commitment to developing leaders that will ensure on-going growth for the nation," the message said.
