Takoradi traders not happy about sales

Takoradi Dec 23, GNA - Traders in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis have complained about poor sales despite the hustle and bustle during the Christmas season.

Some traders told GNA on Wednesday that this was due to measures being taken by the Metropolitan authorities to stop traders from selling at the outer perimeter of the Takoradi main market, as part of its decongestion exercise.

Madam Francisca Kobbina, a tomato seller, told GNA that the vegetable was in abundance but patronage was low.

Madam Mary Arthur, a seamstress, complained about lack of customers because of the availability of "Ready made" cloths in the system and Mr. Rexford Lomotey, a trader, said "people are not buying our live chicken." Mr Lomotey said a chicken sells between 13 Ghana cedis and 18 Ghana cedis unlike last year when it sold between 7 Ghana cedis and 12 Ghana cedis.
