Tamale churches mark Christmas

Most churches in the Tamale Metropolis on Wednesday night held various worship programmes, including festival of nine lessons and carols, to herald the birth of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

At the Kingdom Temple of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) in Tamale, there were song ministrations interlaced with Bible readings, during which the faithful sang praises to thank God for the birth of Jesus Christ, who came to redeem mankind.

In an exhortation, Reverend Peter Enibo Gagara, Senior Pastor at ICGC in Tamale, said Christ came as sacrifice to save mankind, urging all to do more to appreciate God.

Reverend Gagara said mankind must see God as the beginning and the end, and re-dedicate their lives to Him through worship, adding, the most precious gift one must offer God on this occasion, should be “To dedicate your entire life to Him by worshiping Him.”

He urged Christians to have faith in God and remain hopeful in all circumstances adding God would touch them at the appropriate time.

At the Sacred Heart Parish of the Catholic Church in Tamale, Reverend Father Thaddeus Kuusah, Acting Parish Priest, in a sermon, explained that the birth of Jesus Christ re-assured mankind that God created humans with greatness, which could only be attained through service, dedication and hard-work.

Reverend Father Kuusah said “Ghana would have been the best place to be if the citizenry and our political authorities complemented each other’s efforts and exhibited true virtues of service, honesty and hard-work.”

He said, religious, ethnic and family tolerance, was one the significance assets that accompanied the birth of Christ, and urged all to live in harmony.

He appealed to Christians to share the love and peace of Christ not only during the Christmas season, but in the rest of the coming year.
