Tano South Assembly supports PwDs with start-up items

Emmanuel Kwame Frimpong, the Tano South Municipal Chief Executive in the Ahafo Region has presented start-up kits to some Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) to start their own businesses and enhance their livelihoods.

The items comprised Fufu grinding machines, refrigerators, laptop computers as well as some wheelchairs.

Speaking at a ceremony at Bechem, Frimpong explained that the items were bought through the PwDs share of the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) and urged the beneficiaries to utilize them for the intended purpose.

He urged the general public to patronize the goods and services of the PwDs to help them grow and expand their businesses.

Frimpong said that the support was part of efforts by the Assembly to empower the PwDs economically and enhance their livelihoods.

Madam Gladys Zure, the Tano South Municipal Head of the Department of Social Welfare commended the government for increasing the percentage of the PwDs share of the DACF.

She said the increment would enable the Assembly to extend similar support to more of the PwDs in the municipality.

Nana Adea Asubonteng, the Akobeahene (sub-chief) of the Bechem Traditional Area advised the public to look beyond the disabilities and patronize the services of the beneficiaries.

Some of the beneficiaries also expressed appreciation to the Assembly for the support and hoped that the assembly would extend the support to benefit more of the PwDs and to make them financially independent.
