Tanyigbe, (V/R) Sept. 19, GNA - Tanyigbe Ladies Club, a development oriented group, is to build girls' hostel for Tanyigbe Senior High School in the Ho Municipality, to help promote girl-child education in the area.

Mrs Edith Sunu-Wuttoh, President of the Club, who announced this, expressed worry that some girls in the Municipality dropped out of school because they became pregnant due to lack of effective control as they had to stay with people outside the school. She was speaking at the 10th Anniversary celebration of the Club, on the theme: "Investing in women: Partnership with men for Tanyigbe's progress", at Tanyigbe on Saturday, which was in aid of the Girls Hostel project.

Mrs Edith Sunu-Wuttoh said the Club had acquired poly tanks for the school adding: "we are committed to contributing to girl -child education, to help Ghana to attain the Millennium Development Goals." She said the Club has initiated more programmes for girls in the Tanyigbe area and called on individuals and organisations to support the Club.

Mr Gabriel Kploanyi, Volta Regional Director of Education, commended the Club for the gesture and said: "an educated girl-child would grow into an educated woman, who would be able to fight for the education of her children." He called on parents to invest in the education of their girls to enable them to acquire education so that they could live dignified and fulfilled lifestyles.
