Tasty Tom, a popular and nutritious tomato mix produced for Ghanaian cuisine by Nutrifoods Ghana Limited, partnered with child support organizations in the western region to extend the joy of the Christmas season to deprived or impoverished children within the Takoradi Metropolis.

Tasty Tom teamed up with a coalition of NGO’s in women and children affairs, led by Golden Mothers’ Vision International (GMVI), to feed and fete more than 1,000 children at a party which marked this year’s Christmas celebration.

Throwing a big party for as many needy children as possible was the idea of Golden Mothers' Vision International, a non-profit developmental organization which among other objectives, focuses on poverty alleviation among deprived families, women empowerment and child support through education.

“We consider all persons equal and the unavailable priority of human development is to cater for society’s most needy persons – especially women and children who are excluded and to those who are poor and marginalized”, said Madam Abundant Hayford Aggrey, National President of Golden Mothers’ Vision International.

She added: “Christmas is a time for sharing, giving and caring for others – especially the less privileged. But more than 78 percent of our children live in the poorest communities across Ghana, barely eating a set of complete meals a day. We hope that grace will continue to help us cloth, feed and nurture these children to become who they positively dream to be in future.”.

Tasty Tom sponsored the entire initiative by providing cash, sacks of Royal Aroma rice and cartons of Tasty Tom tomato mix. Several hundreds of children congregated at the New Takoradi park for the party and after enjoying hearty meals of rice, they danced, sang, and played musical games into the evening.

Amitav Basak, Head of Business for Tasty Tom commented: “Tasty Tom is very proud to associate with an initiative which helped to put broad smiles on the faces of so many deprived children during Christmas and the festive season.” He added that the brand fully identified with the noble objective of bringing joy and hope to the needy in the Ghanaian society.

Tasty Tom is an enriched tomato mix, fortified with Vitamins A, D, E & K as well as fibre, and is used in homes, restaurants and other popular public eateries across Ghana for making traditional recipes such as Jolloff rice, Ghanaian soups, sauces and gravy.

It is a product of Nutrifoods Ghana, a subsidiary of Olam and produced in an FSSC (Food Safety System Certification Scheme) accredited plant, which is the largest in West Africa and also the first food manufacturing facility in the sub-region to earn international recognition for compliance in food safety standards.
