The Ashanti Ambulance/Hearse Cooperative Society has expressed displeasure over the use of commercial vehicles to convey corpse in the region.

According to the association, the use of taxis to convey corpses is inappropriate and has become a huge cause for concern for them as they are also denied jobs to do.

The Chairman of the Ashanti Ambulance/ Hearse Cooperative Society, Papa Yaw speaking in an interview with Abusua Fm’s Osei Kwadwo called on government, the Health Minister and stakeholders to put proper measures in place to address the issue.

According to Papa Yaw, commercial vehicles drivers who convey bodies barely use water and soap to clean their vehicles.

“This is very worrying as fluids from corpses may seep into the car seats. If the corpse carries an infectious disease the consequences could be grave. Their activities is causing health hazard in the country. The vehicles used carrying food are at the same time being used to carry corpse. Taxis are not specialized for such purposes. We are appealing to government to address this issue because Ghanaians health is taking for granted” he said.
