Space FM, Sunyani - A 32-year old Teacher of the Ridge Experimental School in Sunyani, Miss Philomena Awuah was on Tuesday, August 4, 2008, found dead in a pool of blood with multiple cuts on her neck, abdomen and the thigh in her bedroom at Area 4, a suburb of Sunyani.
Initially, neighbours around the Florence Maternity Home vicinity who witnessed the scene perceived that Philomena killed herself since the door to the bedroom was locked. However, the Sunyani Municipal Police Commander, Superintendent Charles Botwe has dismissed the speculations that the deceased committed suicide.
He told Space FM that police preliminary investigation on the body suggests that somebody might have murdered her and bolted away.
He continued that, at the time the police arrived at the scene the door to Philomena’s bedroom was not locked, adding that a mobile phone was found by the deceased with the sim-chip removed, whilst she was lying on the ground in a pool of blood.
The Municipal Police Commander said it is not possible for some one to inflate multiple cuts on her body, saying the police would solve the mystery behind the teacher’s death.
The father of the deceased, Mr. F.K.E. Awuah said the daughter was recently suffering from malaria and that kept her indoors, but on that fateful day her door was knocked severally without responds.
He said the door was forcibly opened and when they entered the daughter was found lying on the floor in a pool of blood and quickly a report was made to the police. Police investigations continue.
